Marietta Crash: Pedestrian Dies From Injuries
Fifty-five year old tried to cross intersection, police say.

MARIETTA, GA -- A Marietta man who was struck by a car last month has died from his injuries, Cobb County police said Thursday.
Matthew Guido, 55, was attempting to cross the street when a silver 2002 Toyota Avalon drove through the intersection of South Cobb Drive and Beech Road in Marietta, police said.
Guido "left the safety of the sidewalk (and outside the pedestrian crosswalk) and walked into the path of the northbound vehicle," according to Cobb County police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce.

The motorist, identified as 39-year-old Carl Sylvester Fowler, suffered minor injuries in the Jan. 21 crash.
Severely injured, Guido was rushed to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where he later died.

Officers with Cobb's traffic enforcement unit continue to investigate the incident.
