Recount Ordered in Cobb County House District Race

Just over 170 votes separate Democrat Mary Frances Williams and incumbent Republican Sam Teasley.

MARIETTA, GA -- A recount will be conducted in an extremely tight Cobb County state House district on Friday. Certified results have Democrat Mary Frances Williams winning the race with 50.34% of the vote over incumbent Republican Sam Teasley's total of 49.61%. They were separated by 173 votes.

Teasley has requested recount, which will be conducted on Friday, November 16 at 9 am.The recount will be conducted at the Elections and Registration Office located at 736 Whitlock Avenue.

The Board of Elections and Registration is tentatively set to meet at noon on Friday to certify the recount.

House District 37 includes a large portion of Marietta city limits with some unincorporated Cobb County to both the west and northeast of the city limits.
