- The upcoming week has a number of road and lane closures which could impact Marietta drivers in a big way. These closures will remain in effect through Dec. 23. Keep in mind all scheduled work may have to be adjusted based on the weather conditions. The complete list at the link includes details on which roads will be closed at this time. - A pedestrian was killed on Friday morning after being struck by a car. The accident happened at around 2:15 a.m. near Cobb Parkway and Polytechnic Lane. An 81-year-old Lawrenceville man hit a 36-year-old man. The elderly man then fled the scene. The victim was a transient who lived in and around Marietta. His identity has not been released.
