Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:

  1. Nine Marietta City Schools employees were recognized for cleaning up the damage from burst pipes the day after Christmas. The maintenance workers were treated to a catered lunch at one school they helped clean up and an indoor parade at another that also suffered damage. (Yahoo! News)
  2. A GoFundMe was created for the victim of a stabbing at J.J. Daniell Middle School earlier this week. The victim's mother set up the fundraiser and said all funds would go toward providing her daughter therapy. The victim, Summer Kirk, was reportedly hospitalized for multiple stab wounds and is now at home recovering. (Subscription: MDJOnline.com)
  3. Police are investigating the drawing of a gun with a date and message inside a bathroom at the Marietta Sixth Grade Academy. The picture included the statement "be ready," with the date Jan. 19. Police said after a thorough investigation, they don't believe the threat is credible, but the school said it would have additional security and adult presence for the rest of the week.
