Motorcyclist Killed in Marietta (Update)

A motorcyclist is dead after his bike collided with a Cobb Community Transit bus on Wednesday afternoon, Marietta police said.

The accident occurred at the intersection of S Marietta Parkway and Aviation Road at 1:13 p.m., police spokeswoman Brittany Wallace told Patch. The driver of the bus complained of injuries and was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for treatment.

The bus was empty of passengers at the time of the collision, Wallace said.

Half of the lanes on S Marietta Parkway were blocked by the crash and a traffic plan was in place to keep motorists moving despite the backups. Police said just after 4:30 p.m. that all lanes had been re-opened.

Police plan to release additional information on the crash later Wednesday, according to Wallace.
