Teen Dies After Midday Crash Saturday
The two-vehicle crash, which occurred on Austell Road, claimed the life of a 17-year-old from Marietta. Anyone with information on the crash that may help investigators is asked to call Cobb County Police.

A two-vehicle crash that happened midday Saturday claimed the life of a teen from Marietta.
According to a Saturday night news release from Cobb County Police Officer Mike Bowman, investigators from the department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program unit are looking into the crash that occurred about 12:35 p.m. on Austell Road in Austell.
According to investigators, a black 2002 Land Rover Range Rover was heading south on Austell Road when a blue 1989 Nissan 240SX attempted to turn left from eastbound Chamberlain Circle onto northbound Austell Road. As the Nissan entered into the roadway and into the path of the Land Rover, it was struck in the driver’s side door.

The Nissan’s driver was identified as 17-year-old Rodrigo Solorio of Marietta. Solorio was taken by ground ambulance to WellStar Kennestone Hospital following the crash but succumbed to his injuries late Saturday afternoon. He was pronounced deceased by the medical staff at the hospital.
The Land Rover’s driver was 45-year-old Wilson Marcellus of Douglasville. Marcellus was taken by ground ambulance to WellStar Kennestone with non life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the Land Rover, 69-year-old Marc Paul, also of Douglasville, was also taken to Kennestone and treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Officials say charges are not expected to be filed, but the crash remains under investigation.
