- After 31 years of being a part of the Marietta community, the Tommy Nobis Center is set to be relocated to another area in Cobb County as early as 2024. The nonprofit, known for assisting young people and adults with disabilities to return to employment, will relocate to the former Cobb Chamber of Commerce building on Interstate North Parkway near Truist Park. This move is said to position the nonprofit to serve more people in the hub of surrounding businesses based on location and a larger building to expand services. (East Cobb News)
- On Mar. 17, the Renaissance Waverly Hotel will hold its 38th Tribute to Women of Achievement Gala, hosted by Marietta's LiveSafe Resources. LiveSafe Resources hosts this annual gala to support the victims of domestic and sexual assault, rebuilding the security in their lives and ultimately ending the cycle. The yearly event honors 15 women nominated by their peers who demonstrate outstanding leadership, and one of these women will be named "2023 Woman of the Year" at the gala. Nominees come from decorated backgrounds – from CEOs and business owners to presidents and managers – each influencing their communities and peers in various ways. (Subscription: MDJOnline.com)
- Police arrested Douglas Darch after giving a 12-year-old child a water bottle containing something that made her dizzy and then molesting her at Shaw Park over the weekend. Investigators were told the child was offered the water bottle while she was walking in the woods on Saturday. Darch has been charged with multiple felonies, including aggravated assault, child molestation, cruelty to children, and terrorist threats. (WSB Atlanta)
- Marietta police are reminding everyone making online purchases to be mindful after a young man accidentally purchased a stolen bike. A few days ago, a young man bought a dirt bike online, only for authorities to discover the bike was reported stolen in another state. The department is using this as a reminder for online buyers to ensure customers are checking that items have a VIN or a serial number, as the buyer is potentially out on his money, and the seller is still being investigated. Officers are requesting residents to complete these transactions in police parking lots or to have officers check these items, so items are not stolen. (WSB Atlanta)

- The family of fallen Smyrna officer Georgiana is keeping his memory alive, fulfilling his last wish of giving unwanted blankets to the less fortunate and those in need. Not only did Officer Georgiana's family drop off 100 blankets to our officers, but they have started a nonprofit and are having specialty blankets made for every officer in the county. - On Tuesday, Jan. 31, Councilwoman Cheryl Richardson will hold the Town Hall Meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, located at 205 Lawrence St. (City of Marietta, Ga., Government via Facebook)
- Bike theft can happen in the blink of an eye, but you can take the extra moment and lock your bike up. Remember to lock your bicycle to an immovable object when leaving it unattended, as someone may try to steal it, like outside the police station. (Marietta, Georgia Police Department via Facebook)
