Celebrate America's independence July 4 from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. with an Independence Day parade and celebration on Marietta Square, free concerts, museum tours, arts and crafts show, food, carnival games and a fireworks finale.

Parade Details

The Marietta Independence Day parade kicks off at 10 a.m. It begins at Roswell Street Baptist Church and moves west on Roswell Street, north on East Park Square past Glover Park and Square, down Cherokee Street and ends at North Marietta Parkway.

The parade is scheduled to include 100 entries and approximately 2,000 participants. Former City Councilwoman Betty Hunter will serve as parade grand marshal.

Road Closures

  • Roswell Street west of Cobb Parkway and all streets it crosses: closed for parade from 9:30 a.m. until parade ends around 12:15 p.m.
  • North, South, East and West Park Square around the Marietta Square: closed entire day for festival
  • Church Street at Polk Street: closed July 3 at 6 p.m. for event setup

Parking

  • Free parking is available in the two parking decks east of Cherokee Street. They can be reached from Lawrence Street or Lemon Street during the day.
  • Free parking and Trolley shuttle service is available at Roswell Street Baptist Church and Grace Pointe Church on Atlanta Street from 6-11 p.m. Firework parking will be available at the Roswell Street Baptist Church main campus west parking lot.
  • Paid parking is available at the Episcopal and Presbyterian Church parking lots.

Music and Entertainment

  • Noon: Scott Thompson
  • 2 p.m.: National Bell Ringing
  • 2:15 p.m.: Awards Ceremony
  • 8 p.m.: Greg Bates (country)
  • Arts and crafts show with 90 vendors: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
  • Food concessions: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
  • Carnival games: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; tickets for games available at booths located throughout the park

Fireworks 

The fireworks display will begin at dark. Fireworks will be shot from First United Methodist Church parking lot.

Closures

City of Marietta administrative offices will be closed July 4 in observance of the holiday. The Marietta Gone With the Wind Museum will also be closed July 4.
