Monroe Man Charged with Armed Robbery in Alleged Carjacking

An arrest does not constitute a conviction.

Erin Tyler Griffith, of 310 Turner St., Monroe, is one of three men implicated in an armed carjacking alleged to have taken place in Atlanta on July 22, 2013.

According to a Dekalb County Police Department incident report, the victim was dropping off his garbage at the front of his apartment complex at 1432 N Cliff Valley Way in Atlanta when a newer model black Lexus SUV drove into the complex. The victim had his wife and three young children in the car with him at the time. One of the three men in the car, described by the victim as a Hispanic male wearing a mask, got out of the car and approached the victim brandishing a gun. He reportedly told the man to give him the car or he would kill him and his entire family. The victim turned over the keys and the family got out of the car. The man then drove off in the victim’s 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe and the other two men followed in the black Lexus.

According to Mekka Parish, DCPD public information officer, this is the incident that resulted in Griffith being arrested and charged with armed robbery. At the time, Griffith was on parole in Walton County on a previous charge of aggravated assault.
