Weekend Wreck in Monroe Sends Four to Hospital

The accident happened at about 2:50 a.m. Saturday morning on Ammons Bridge Road near the intersection of Michael Etchison.

Georgia State Patrol and Walton County Sheriff's Office responded to an accident in the early morning hours of Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013. According to a GSP spokesman, three of the occupants of the vehicle were transported to area hospitals and a fourth was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center.

"The crash occurred Saturday morning around 2:50 a.m. on Ammons Bridge when a 2010 Jeep Laredo that was eastbound left the roadway," he said. "The driver overcorrected and the vehicle overturned across the roadway, left the north shoulder and continued to overturn before coming to rest on its roof."

WCSO reported in an alert that three of the victims were trapped in the vehicle. Two of them were transported to Athens Regional Medical Center and one was flown to Atlanta Medical Center.

GSP reported that the four people in the vehicle were:

  • Brandon Hamilton, 21, from Monroe - flown to Atlanta Medical Center
  • Taylor Rae South, age 18, from Covington - Athens Regional
  • Jason Lanier Hall, 21, Monroe - Athens Regional
  • Sean Christopher Lock, 20, Loganville - Clearview Regional
GSP spokesman said the accident is still under investigation to determine who was driving at the time of the accident.
