2nd Gas Leak In A Week Closes Gwinnett Road
The second gas leak in a week closes a Gwinnett County road.

NORCROSS, GA – Firefighters responded at 4:45 p.m. to a natural gas leak outside in the 1147 block of Harbins Road, NW in unincorporated Norcross. The leak was caused by a contract crew that struck a 2-inch gas line while boring across the roadway. The crew was working to move a water line due to sidewalk and roadway construction.
Crews arrived to find an active leak and a strong odor of gas in a construction zone. According to firefighters, the gas vapors were readily dissipating in the atmosphere and there was no immediate hazard due to the escaping gas.
An emergency crew from Atlanta Gas Light responded to the scene to stop the leak. Firefighters monitored the area and deployed a hose line on the ground to protect gas company workers as they brought the leak under control.
