5 Units Damaged By Gwinnett County Fire
Firefighters worked to douse the blaze which displaced dozens of people.
TUCKER, GA — Gwinnett County firefighters doused a Tucker fire Friday night in a multi-family dwelling, according to a release from the department.
On Friday, Sept. 6, around 9:40 p.m., authorities got multiple reports of a fire in the 801 block of Preston Lake Drive NW, the department said in a release.
Crews arrived to find heavy fire in a multi-family dwelling which had already been evacuated. The fire moved its way from the first floor to the roof.

Flames had begun breaking through the roof as firefighters deployed a hose to douse it. They got high on a ladder to attack the fire from above in order to prevent the blaze from spreading.
There was heavy fire damage and heavy water damage in the two units of the first floor, the release says. The fire caused heavy damage to the three apartments on the second floor.

Authorities say 19 adults and 13 children were displaced by the fire.
The first is believed to have started on the first floor, but the exact cause is under investigation.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury during the call, but was able to work through it.
