50 Displaced In Norcross Hotel Blaze

There were no injuries in the Buford Highway hotel fire.

NORCROSS, GA — A Buford Highway hotel caught fire Wednesday afternoon, forcing the displacement of about 50 people, fire officials said.

Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services responded around 5 p.m. to the Inn Town Suites in the 6000 block of Buford. A 911 caller told dispatch the flames were extending from the bottom floor to nearby vegetation and the building's roof, fire officials said.

People had begun to evacuate, and firefighters assisted with the evacuation upon arrival, fire officials said.

Atlanta Gas Light and Georgia Power disconnected the hotel's utilities, and the fire was brought under control around 5:30 p.m.

There were no injuries in the fire; however, about 50 people were displaced, fire officials said. The American Red Cross worked with hotel management to assist them, fire officials said.
