First Fatal Accident Of 2019 Occurs On Lawrenceville Highway
The first fatal accident of 2019 in Gwinnett County occured Thursday, on Lawrenceville Highway at Braxton Road.

NORCROSS, GA — One man is dead and one was injured as the Gwinnett County Police Department Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the first fatality accident of 2019. The accident occurred on Thursday, Jan. 3, at around 11 a.m., on Lawrenceville Highway in unincorporated Tucker.
Angus Reid, 47, of Lilburn, was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Based on the preliminary investigation, Habeeb Lami, 18, of Tucker, was traveling westbound on Lawrenceville Highway towards Lilburn. He was driving a grey Toyota Camry. He entered the center turn lane to make a left turn onto Braxton Place.

Reid was traveling eastbound on Lawrenceville Highway towards Tucker in a white Chevrolet Impala.

As Lami was making his left turn, he struck the side of the white Chevrolet Impala along the driver’s side door. Both drivers were taken to a local hospital. Lami’s injuries were minor. Reid’s injuries were life threatening; and he later died at the hospital.
Both vehicles were impounded to Gwinnett County Police Headquarters for further analysis.
At this time, no charges have been filed in this case. Police say charges may come at a later time.
