YMCA seeks donations for Backpack Program

The program benefits children who may not have access to food when school is out

(NORCROSS, GA) October 19, 2018 β€” The Robert D. Fowler Family YMCA is asking the community for donations for its Backpack Program. This unique program is designed to meet the needs of as many children as possible at times when other resources are not available to them or their families β€” especially on the weekends.

Through generous community donations, the Backpack Program provides a backpack full of non-perishable food to children in need and it is taken home over the weekend when school meals are unavailable. Every Friday afternoon, the children take home these back packs, provided by the Fowler YMCA, for the entire weekend. As long as the backpack is returned to school on Monday, they will be refilled and sent home the next Friday throughout the school year.

The Fowler YMCA welcomes non-perishable items and monetary donations. To learn more, visit the Robert D. Fowler YMCA or call (770) 246-9622.
