Gwinnett Patrol Car Hits, Kills Pedestrian: Cops

NORCROSS, GA — A male pedestrian who was hit by a Gwinnett County patrol car around 1 a.m. Monday has died, Gwinnett County Police said.

Police said the patrol car was traveling east on Beaver Ruin Road near Interstate 85, where the pedestrian was crossing the roadway outside of the crosswalk before being hit.

The officer notified radio dispatch of the accident, and additional officers quickly responded to render aid to the pedestrian, police said.

Paramedics took the pedestrian to a hospital, where he died of his injuries, police said. He was not identified, pending next-of-kin notification.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the case.
