Norcross Man Charged With Homicide in Deadly Hit-And-Run
Phouvath Phounsavath was the second of two drivers to hit Shiquata Johnson on Sunday night, police say.

NORCROSS, GA — A Norcross man is charged with vehicular homicide and hit-and-run after striking and killing a pedestrian, then leaving the scene.
Police say Shiquata Johnson, 31, of Atlanta, was crossing Annistown Road near Hidden Bluff Trail at about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday when she was hit by two vehicles.
Johnson, who police say was wearing dark clothing and not in a crosswalk, was first struck by Orane Lamont, 29, of Snellville. Lamont remained at the scene, police said.

He was later found in a church parking lot, examining his vehicle.
"Phounsavath should have known that he struck a person and not another object," Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Deon Washington said in a news release.
Phounsavath was charged with felony vehicular homicide and felony hit and run.
Neither speed nor alcohol was believed to have been a factor in the incident, police said.
"Drivers are urged to remember that leaving the scene of an accident is a crime," Washington said. "If you are involved in an accident that results in bodily injury, remain calm, call 911, and follow the instructions of dispatchers to render first aid."
