Man In Fatal Norcross Shooting Charged With Murder

Police said the Pirkle Road shooting suspect, identified as a Stone Mountain man, was arrested shortly after 2 a.m. Monday.

NORCROSS, GA — A Stone Mountain man accused of shooting and killing another man Sunday night in the 1600 block of Pirkle Road was arrested shortly after 2 a.m. Monday, Gwinnett County Police said.

The man's body was found around 8:15 p.m. Sunday between the 1700 building of Pirkle and a building on Hampton Ridge Road, police said.

Police said Shaheed Abdullah Al-Ameen, 28, was charged on suspicion of felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain felonies. He was taken to the Gwinnett County Jail, police said.

Police said they believe the man exchanged gunfire with Al-Ameen prior to authorities being notified. A motive is unknown, and the man has not been identified.
