Norcross Taco Restaurant Fails Inspection

Multiple issues sunk Grill Taco to a score of 69.

NORCROSS, GA — Poor food storage techniques and out-of-date food items helped sink a Norcross taco restaurant to a failing score on its health inspection Wednesday.

Grill Taco, at 5895 Jimmy Carter Blvd., scored a 69-U on the inspection.

The restaurant will have another inspection within 10 days. If problems aren't fixed, it runs the risk of being at least temporarily shut down.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health report, there was no one at the restaurant certified in food safety, as required by law.

Raw eggs and meat were being stored above ready-to-eat food, several food items in the cooler were above the recommended temperature of 41 degrees and several prepared food items, including cheese dip, were more than seven days old.

One hand-washing sink was blocked with dishes and had its water shut off due to a leak and another had no hot water.

Several dry food containers had bowls in them that were being used as scoops, instead of scoops with handles to keep employees' hands out of the food.

And a note on the report said that "children are not allowed in the kitchen," although it didn't specifically state whether children were present during the inspection.

On its previous inspection, in March, Taco Grill had received a grade of 96-A. In February, it had received a 74-C.
