Photo Gallery: Students Help Norcross Co-Op in Empty Bowls Project

Norcross Elementary students made bowls available for purchase Monday in the school's Empty Bowls Project event. The funds collected went to the Norcross Cooperative Ministry.

Norcross Elementary celebrated its 10th year participating in the Empty Bowls Project, an international effort to fight hunger.

For the last month, students created bowls in school to sell Monday, April 1, in a special event for the project. Students, parents, faculty members and locals lined up to purchase the bowls and also ice cream for $5, which was donated to the Norcross Cooperative Ministry. The co-op helps thousands of locals in need by providing food and other services.

A program filled with Asian-inspired songs, art and drama performances preceded the selling of the bowls. Different pieces of art made by the students also were displayed in the gym.
