Teen Killed In Norcross Shooting Identified

The Norcross shooting was the result of an altercation between at least two males that escalated to gunfire, police say.

NORCROSS, GA — The 16-year-old found dead after a Windsor Woods Lane shooting last week was identified Tuesday.

Gwinnett County Police said Jose Yahir Batz, of Norcross, was killed in the tragic shooting. Officers arrived around 4 p.m. Friday to find Batz dead at the scene, police said.

The shooting was the result of an altercation between at least two males that escalated to gunfire, police previously said.

One unidentified male was detained. Police have not said if charges have been pressed in the case.
