Video: Store Employees Chase Robber Who Wanted Job, Police Say

Employees chased a robber around a Norcross laundromat after he got irritated when he found out the business wasn't hiring, police said.

NORCROSS, GA -- The Gwinnett County Police Department Robbery Unit needs the public’s help in identifying a man responsible for a recent robbery.

On Wednesday, March 6, at around 3 p.m., a young man walks into the laundromat at 865 Indian Trail Road in unincorporated Norcross in inquire about getting a job. When the employee tells him that they are not hiring, he became irritated, according to police.

The man made several attempts to enter the β€œemployee-only” area of the business, police said. At one point, he physically pushed the employees. The man later reached over the counter, through the glass partition and grabbed a bowl of coins, police reported. He ran to the back of the business with two employees chasing him. He eventually ran towards the front door. The employees were able to wrestle the coins from his grasp and the money fell to the ground.

The man fled the business, and the employees called 911.

Now that this case is assigned to a detective, police need assistance in identifying the man in the video. According to the surveillance video of the incident, the man is described as 16-19 years old, 5-05 to 5-07 tall, 150-160 lbs., black hair, wearing a light-beige North Face hoody, blue jeans, black shoes, and a book bag with black and white designs.
