Fireworks Show Re-Scheduled for Aug. 30

August is a busy month in the city of Norcross. Here are just five of the events to add to your calendar.

Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, City Council Meeting
6:30 Work Session, Council Meeting 7 p.m.
Norcross City Hall, 65 Lawrenceville Street
A number of agenda items including a DDA proposal for the Cotton Gin, a Shade Structure proposal for Webb Field, a study on the Holcomb Bridge Road Rail Road Crossing Intersection and the 2013 property millage rate which may be increased to 6.552.

Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, National Night Out
5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Lillian Webb Park, 5 College Street
The Norcross Police (NPD) will have crafts, food trucks, kids' games and giveaways. La Raza 102.3FM and La Mega 96.5FM are providing the music, the NPD K9 Unit will be giving demos, and kids of all ages can compete for prizes at the soccer skill course plus each volleyball and a splash pad. Bring a blanket and chairs, the event is free.

SUMMER CONCERT SERIES: Bobby & The Aristocats
Friday August 16, 2013
7:30 PM - 9:30 PM 
Thrasher Park, 93 Park Drive
The nine-piece band brings MoTown to Disco so bring your dancing shoes. Bring some non-perishable canned food goods and help fill the shelves of local food pantries. Bring your own picnic - dinners to-go available from downtown eateries, coolers welcome (no glass, please!)

MOVIE IN THE PARK: The Avengers
Saturday August 24, 2013
7:30 p.m.  
Lillian Webb Park, 5 College St.
The evening begins early with the splash pad and a much-bigger-than-life PUPPET SHOW courtesy of Kaiser Permanente. Then at dusk, the movie begins and it's all about THE AVENGERS!! "The Avengers" is a 2012 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. The event is free. Bring a blanket or chairs, a picnic and towels to dry off the kids after they play in the splash pad.

Summer Concert Series & Fireworks Show
Friday August 30, 2013
7:30 PM - 10:00 PM 
Concert - Thrasher Park, 93 Park Drive
The last concert in Norcross' Summer Series is a beach party blow out with "AIA - The Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band" onstage in Thrasher Park. Wear your best flip flops and parrot gear, bring a picnic and a cooler (no glass, please.) and remember to bring a donation of canned goods for Norcross' CAN Do Food Drive! 

When the concert ends at 9:30, the fireworks show begins. This is the display that was rained out on July 3. The concert and fireworks show are free.
