Man Putting Air In Tires Killed At Gwinnett Gas Station: Police

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — A man was shot and killed while putting air in his tires at a Gwinnett County gas station Sunday afternoon, police said.

The victim was killed outside of a QuickTrip gas station at 5255 Peachtree Parkway in Peachtree Corners, police said. According to investigators, the man was parked near the air pumps preparing to put air in his tire on the passenger side. Another vehicle with three suspects parked in a space next to him.

One of the suspects got into the driver's seat of the victim's car, police said. The victim tried to stop his car from being stolen, police said. The suspect and the victim got into a fight inside the car. That’s when a second suspect got involved.

The victim was shot during the altercation. He died on the scene, according to police.

During this incident, another car pulled up behind waiting to use the air pumps, and witnessed the shooting, police said.

Police said the suspects got back in their vehicle after shooting the victim and were last seen traveling south on Peachtree Parkway. Investigators believe the incident was an attempted carjacking.

The name of the victim will be released once the family has been notified, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
