Come August students attending GIVE Center West on Beaver Ruin Road will be reporting to a new location on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.
Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) purchased the 14-acre site at 5556 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard several years ago. GCPS has been using a portion of the 160,000 square-foot building as a satellite office for the school's transportation department which will remain after the renovations are complete.
The property is located within the city limits of Norcross on the east side of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard across from the Technology Park entrance.

"The space is now being remodeled to house the GIVE Center West, as well as provide space for offices, counseling and school nutrition," said Sloan Roach, Executive Director of Communication and Media Relations for GCPS.
"Our facilities team are working on finalizing the renovations to the building and preparing the site for students," said Roach. Students will report to the new facility in August.

A sea of modular units are being installed which will house the actual classrooms the GIVE West students will use. "Portables will be used for the majority of the actual classrooms," said Roach. "The layout of the portable classrooms will include raised platforms, walkways and a covered corridor."
GIVE is an alternative school that serves students who have long-term suspensions from their home school.
"The new GIVE West facility will also house the media center, computer labs and other multi-purpose rooms that will be used for large gatherings and PE classes," explained Roach.
The current GIVE West facility, which is the old Norcross High School campus, is slated to be renovated to be used to house Summerour Middle School.
Roach said that GCPS plans to renovate the current Summerour Middle to become an elementary school. No timetable was given for those renovations.
Editor's note: The Gwinnett Online Campus, currently housed with GIVE Center West, is not moving to the new facility on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard but is moving to a district facility in Lawrenceville. The plans for the online school were originally to relocate with the GIVE Center.
