The Gwinnett County Police Department’s Animal Welfare & Enforcement Section is hosting its 2nd Annual Adoption Explosion event.
The event runs through Saturday, July 27th. During this event, the department will waive its adoption fees and the veterinarian fees will be reduced. The normal adoption fee of $90 will be reduced to $40 for dogs and puppies, and $30 for cats and kittens. For those wishing to adopt two cats or kittens, the fee will be reduced to $40 total for both. The fee includes the spay/neuter of each animal, a microchip, and the first round of shots.
On Saturday, July 27, the event will end with a block party at the Animal Welfare and Enforcement Center. The party will run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the shelter staying open until 4:00 p.m. There will be a lot going on during the block party, to include the “Cars for Critters Mega Hot Road and Car Show”, a live DJ with music, inflatable jump houses and games for kids, a craft exhibit that caters to animal lovers, and a cookout. The cookout will be a fundraiser for the Society of Humane Friends. This is the group that runs the spay/neuter clinic at the shelter, and is responsible for the reduced fees during this event. We will be selling hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and non-alcoholic drinks during the party.
