Traffic Stop Near Elementary School Nets Murder Suspect
Gwinnett PD: The suspect, wanted for a homicide in Indiana, was arrested after the driver took an illegal left turn in front of school.

An illegal left turn out of the parking lot of a Gwinnett County elementary school Monday morning led to the arrest of a murder suspect wanted in Indiana.
Gwinnett Police said in a Monday news release, Shakidi Dominique Underwood, 18, was the passenger in a car that was pulled over around 8 a.m. after the car took an unlawful left turn out of Baggett Elementary School, located on Old Norcross Road. Such turns are not permitted at the time.
Gwinnett Police Public Information Officer Cpl. Michele Pihera said Underwood had outstanding warrants for murder and robbery through Indiana and the U.S. Marshalls Office. He is being held in the county jail for extradition.

Pireha said one of the officers working traffic detail at the school saw a black Chevolet Malibu make the illegal turn and motioned the driver, Porshanique Shaquay Johnson, to pull over. Johnson, 22, is Underwood’s sister, police said.
The officer could smell the odor of marijuana, and also found that Johnson had a suspended license. She also was arrested.

Underwood was found to be in possession of marijuana, and when the officer asked for his name, he reportedly replied, “I don’t have a name.”
“When told that his identity could be determined through the use of fingerprints at the jail, he ultimately provided his name to the officer,” Pihera said. After Underwood’s name was run through the national database, his arrest warrants were revealed.
Underwood also will be charged with marijuana possession. Additional charges are possible for Johnson.
Underwood is one of three teenagers charged in a July robbery and murder of a Fort Wayne, Indiana, man, according to the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette.
