Lazaro's Cuban Cuisine Offically Open

Laz Tenreiro has been recreating the Cuban foodie experience for friends and family over the course of his life, so why not include his North Fulton neighbors now?

The native Cuban, who moved to Ft. Lauderdale with his parents and sister at the age of nine, has lived in Roswell since 2007.

"I love to entertain, so I would invite lots of friends to my house and cook for them five-course Cuban meals," he told Roswell Patch. "I would do this about three times a month."

Little did he know, those gatherings would serve as the catalyst for realizing his lifelong dream of opening his own restaurant.

"Every one of them would tell me that I should open a restaurant; and so I did," he said matter-of-factly.

Wishful thinking and intentional prompting turned into reality when Laz found the little house on Woodstock Road, near the Canton Street intersection. Thus was born: .

I "turned [the house] into this very homey restaurant to get the feel as if [my friends] were still dining in my house," said Tenreiro.

The restaurant is now open seven days a week, catering to a clientele who crave flavorful food inspired by the Caribbean nation, without the hassle of having to leave North Fulton. Although, mid-bite, patrons might find themselves day dreaming of sailing off to Havana - if only for a meal. 

Tenreiro says diners should definitely try the chicken empanadas and the Manchego cheese with chorizo when they stop by for lunch or dinner. His favorite entrees are the Cuban sandwich and the roast pork with moro; and his favorite desserts are the Tres Leches cake and the coconut flan.

The restaurant hours are Tuesday through Thursday 11:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 11:30 a.m. - 11 p.m.; and Sunday 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. They are located at 25 Woodstock Road, Roswell. Contact them at 678-277-9661 or by e-mailing info@lazaroscuisine.com.
