National Merit Board Names Roswell High School Semifinalists
Seven Semifinalists and 10 Commended Students are Recognized
The National Merit Board officials have announced its 2023 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists for the 68th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Of the named 16,000 semifinalists in the 68th annual National Merit Scholarship Program, seven are Roswell High School students.
Roswell High School’s 2023 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists include Harrison Burns, Kate Carpenter, Cyra Moobed, Samuel Roby, Alexander Rouhizad, Stone Smith and Christina Wu.
The National Merit Scholarship Program is for academically talented high school seniors across the United States. These students have the opportunity to compete for over 7,200 National merit Scholarships worth $28 million. Winners will be announced in spring 2023.

Roswell High School also has 10 named Commended Students, recognized for their exceptional academic performance: Isabel Bothelho, Reagan C. Garrett, Olivia Getz, James Guglielmo, Emma Hubscher, Ashley Meyer, William Nicholson, Simon Pellegri, Thomas Rhodes and Luke Unglo.
“I’m so proud of the academic achievements of these students, some of our best and brightest,” said Roswell High School Principal LaToya Miley. “Their commitment to rigorous academics will prepare them for success after high school.”

According to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation website, since its founding, the organization has recognized over 3.4 million students and provided over 451,000 scholarships worth over $1.8 billion.
Roswell High School will recognize these seven seniors at the commencement ceremony in May with a medallion worn along with each student’s cap, gown and other academic regalia.
