Tell us about the first responder and how they serve the community.

Brendan has been an officer for some years now and in those years he has been Officer of the Year at the Avondale PD twice and had other recognition. He made sergeant and then investigator while still in his early to mid 30s. He is dedicated enough to doggedly work his job but also have compassion for those he comes into contact with. At one point it was thought that two boys from a nearby private school were breaking into a city storage unit and stealing expensive equipment. Their lives would have been severely affected by this. My son stayed on the case, staking out the area and on a freezing cold New Year's one night caught the real culprits, two men who had been breaking in and stealing for some time. The charges against the young men were dropped, I think, because of my son's efforts. Recently he was working a shift for the Decatur Police near his city when some drove a car up at high speed into the main road, main part of the city and crashed into a light pole. The driver jumped out and took off. Brendan, realizing something was very wrong, immediately ran after him and with a Decatur police officer behind him was able to subdue the man so charges could be made. I cannot remember what the man had done before this or if he was armed but it was a very serious situation. Brendan, when he was a patrol officer for several years, found drugs in vehicles that were traveling the main back road into Atlanta through Avondale. This was not uncommon for him and, again, is a dangerous situation. Aside from this, my son is a good, mild-mannered family man with a wife and 8-year-old daughter, a son who also looks after his mother, and steadfastly looked after his grandmother until her death in 2022. If you want someone to be there for you, Brendan is the guy. Always.
