Roswell High School Names Valedictorian, Salutatorian
The Class of 2022 has Its Top Two Students
Roswell High School announces its top two students for the 2022 graduating class. Riley Davis is named valedictorian and Seth Kinoshita is salutatorian.
“I am so proud of Riley and Seth,” said Principal Robert Shaw, Ed.D. “They are finishing out their high school career during difficult times and are graduating with flying colors. They have been involved heavily in both student and academic life at Roswell, and I commend all their efforts.”
Davis is the daughter of Sam and Nancy Davis of Roswell, and the sister of Carson Davis, a Roswell High School graduate of the Class of 2021. Prior to attending Roswell High School, Davis attended Sweet Apple Elementary and Elkins Pointe Middle School. She has also been dual enrolled at Gwinnett Tech for the last two years, where she completed several English courses.

Her favorite courses during her senior year are economics and psychology with Daniel Waldroup and Lashanda Whitworth, respectively.
Davis says one of the most important things she’s learned in high school is how to manage time effectively. She is the captain of the lacrosse and swim teams at Roswell High School, and is on Student Council, and in National Honor Society, UNICEF Club, Friends Club, and Chemistry Club, and held offices in several of these clubs. Outside of Roswell High School activities, Davis is a member of the National Charity League, where she volunteers with local charities. She also works at the Olive Garden and coaches lacrosse at Roswell Parks and Recreation.

Davis’ favorite memories of her time at Roswell High School, she says, is “All the football games. Getting ready with my friends and cheering on the team. As a sports player, having people in the stands is great.”
Davis hasn’t made a final college decision yet, but will likely attend Georgia Tech, the University of Florida, Vanderbilt University, Harvard University or Princeton University in the fall. She plans to major in kinesiology or psychology, and later attend graduate school to become a pediatric occupational therapist.
Salutatorian Kinoshita is the son of Kenji and Deidre Kinoshita of Roswell. His twin brother Josh is also a senior at Roswell High School. Prior to attending Roswell High School, he attended Roswell North Elementary, Amana Academy, Mimosa Elementary School and Crabapple Middle School. He has also been dual enrolled at Georgia Tech, where he has taken math courses.
Kinoshita’s favorite classes in high school have been Laura Kouns for Advanced Placement Capstone and Advanced Placement Literature, Advanced Placement Chemistry with Christi Chilton.
“Those are the ones I’ve found myself looking forward to throughout the day.”
While at Roswell High School, Kinoshita has been in the Chamber Orchestra, on the quiz bowl and cross country teams and in Chemistry Club. Outside of school activities, Kinoshita has been practicing aikido for 14 years, and in May he will test for his first-degree black belt. He also volunteers with the Sunrise Association of Atlanta, which supports families affected by childhood cancer. He has also held officer positions in his youth group at Temple Beth Tikvah.
His favorite Roswell High School tradition, he says, are the football games. “I have vivid memories of my freshman, sophomore and senior flour toss.”
Kinoshita will likely attend Georgia Tech, Tulane University, Washington University in St. Louis or Johns Hopkins University. He plans to dual major in chemistry and applied mathematics on a pre-med track, and later become a radiation oncologist.
