Con Woman Surrenders After Allegedly Scamming Elderly Man Out of $35K

Sophie Lorene Adams, wanted for scamming an 82-year old SandySprings man out of $35,000 by claiming she needed the money for cancer treatments, is in the Fulton County Jail after surrendering Tuesday night.

Sandy Springs Police confirmed that fraud suspect Sophie Lorene Adams, wanted for scamming an 82-year old man out of $35,000 by claiming she needed the money for cancer treatments, is in the Fulton County Jail after surrendering Tuesday night.

The victim said he was befriended by Adams in the Kroger store at City Walk shopping center in June.

Before her arrest, Sandy Springs Police had issued warrants for Adams charging her with Theft by Deception and Exploitation of the Elderly.
