Recent Crimes Include Cabbie Assault, Burglary and Fraud
Recent crimes in Sandy Springs.

On June 27, a cab driver reported that around 3 a.m .he gave a ride to a fare from Northwood Drive to the Dunwoody Place location which is an apartment complex. The man gave the cab driver a $100 bill and the cabbie pulled out $80 for change. The man suddenly grabbed the $80 from the cabbie’s hand and then pepper sprayed him in the face before running. The suspect is described a Hispanic male, about 40-years-old wearing a black Polo type shirt and jeans.
Burglary

- Sandy Springs Police are investigating a burglary on Brinkley Lane near Windsor Parkway, on July 1. In a previous Patch post, resident Eric Sockwell said three HDTVs and two laptops were taken. A neighbor told police there was a green Ford Explorer in the driveway with two African American men dressed in white t-shirts.

- In June, a resident on Aldenshire Place reported that a noise alerted her to someone trying to open her garage door. The dog started barking and she then saw a man run through the backyard. The resident was not able to get a description of the man.
Fraud
- A man reported that someone used his information to apply for a loan with the Department of Agriculture Credit Union in Washington, D.C. The suspect apparently applied for a $59,000 loan for a Mercedes. The credit union called to verify information, which is when the victim learned of the crime.
- A resident reported that someone accessed her Bank of America account and charged $1,337 at Rooms to Go via their website.
- A woman reported that someone in Watchung, New Jersey used her name and Social Security number to open a Sears’s account. The account was denied which was when she found out about it.
- A man on Roberts Drive said that someone accessed his debit card number and placed two orders at the Heart of India Restaurant, totaling approximately $100.
- A resident just off Barfield Road said his personal information was used to open up five cell phone accounts with Verizon. He was notified when Verizon called about the $540 outstanding bill.
- A man reported that his name and information and attempted to open two credit union accounts.
