Approved Rezonings Mark Shift in Sandy Springs Redevelopment
The city has shifted into high redevelopment gear.

It feels like redevelopment in Sandy Springs has kicked into a new gear. The city is moving swiftly with downtown plans. And in addition to rezoning approval of the 21-acre JLB development on Roswell Road at Windsor Parkway, City Council approved several other redevelopment projects on Tuesday night.
The Provence Apartments property at 6558 Roswell Road will be demolished for more upscale apartments by Courtland Development. City Council approved the rezoning 5-1, with Karen Meinzen McEnerny voting against. The property currently has 112 units. City Councilmembers approved a maximum of 230 units.
Rezoning on a foreclosed property at 6890 Peachtree Dunwoody Road was approved for 19 residential units in a 5-1 vote. Concerned about traffic and the stream buffer, Councilman Gabriel Sterling voted against.

Rezoning was approved for several single-family lots on Spalding Drive, Mount Vernon Highway, and Glenridge Point.
In the spring, Patch reported on rapid redevelopment in the Mountaire Springs neighborhood, where concerned neighbors say older homes that are sold for about $200,000 are torn down and replaced by $800,000 houses.
