Riverwood Students Mean Business

Four students from the Sandy Springs high school placed in FBLA competiion in Anaheim, Calif. Separately, a rising 11th grader was on a winning team at an entrepreneur and business conference at Clayton State University.

Four students from Riverwood International Charter School’s Future Business Leaders of America club took part in this year’s National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California June 26th-July 1st.  This five-day conference provides an opportunity for students to shine as they compete among the best in the nation.

  • Regan Durkin in Partnership with Business
  • Melissa Parlour in Global Business and American Enterprise
  • Jacob Greenberg in American Enterprise

Melissa Parlour and Jacob Greenberg placed 3rd in Nation in American Enterprise; and Melissa Parlour and Peter Shoemaker placed 9th in Global Business. It was the first time Riverwood’s FBLA chapter has had one member place in two events at the National level.

Riverwood’s Devin Hall On The Winning Team For Clayton State University’s Summer Entrepreneurship And Business Academy

Devin Hall, a rising 11th grader at Riverwood International Charter School, was among 21 local high school students that attended the 2013 Summer Entrepreneurship and Business Academy (SEBA) of the College of Business at Clayton State University.  At the end of the week long session, five teams of students presented a product idea to a group of business leaders in the community.  Devin was on the winning team which presented an idea of a solar powered battery and case for a computer or iPad.  

Sponsored by PEI, a Stockbridge-based logistics firm, SEBA 2013 was a week long program exposing students to business classes, discussions, guest speakers, tours, team building, an etiquette luncheon, and other activities designed to prepare them for life after high school.
