Riverwood Wins Engineering Challenge at Destination Imagination
The club will go on to compete in the Global Finals May 24 to May 27 in Knoxville.

From Riverwood International Charter School: Congratulations to Riverwood's newly formed Destination Imagination (DI) team as they won First Place in the Engineering Challenge at the recent State Tournament at Lanier High School. The club will go on to compete in the Global Finals May 24 to May 27 in Knoxville.
The team “4-mula” members are Juniors Srujani Das, Jackie Martinez, Tate Poole, Adileni Moldanado, and Rosa Moctezuma. This first year team meets at least weekly to prepare for competitions. Faculty sponsor Karlyn Muller-Hill commented, “These are AMAZING students!!! Listening to them practice for the competition is exciting. It is awe-inspiring that kids so young are so engaged and so excited about an extracurricular project.”
The Engineering Challenge asks teams to design, build, and test load-bearing structures using specific materials. Each Challenge is open-ended and enables student teams to learn and experience the creative process from imagination to innovation. Destination Imagination’s purpose is to inspire and equip students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders. Annually, DI offers seven new standards-based Challenges in STEM, Improv, Visual Arts, Service Learning, and Early Learning. Student teams solve the Challenges and present their solutions at tournaments.
