Sandy Springs Burglaries Down From Last Year

Police have made arrests in some recent burglaries.

You may have taken notice of bold burglars in the news lately, but residential burglaries are down eight percent from this time last year.

Figures provided by Sandy Springs Police Capt. Steve Rose show 244 burglaries from Jan. 5-July 5, 2012, and 224 burglaries from Jan. 3-July 4, 2013.

Businesses experienced 35 burglaries by July 4, 2013, compared to 75 by July 2012.

Police have made arrests in some recent burglaries. On July, 3, Spencer Edmonston, 26, was charged with a June burglary on Magnolia Bluff Drive.

Sandy Springs Police arrested 26-year old Spencer Edmonston on June 22, charging him with the June 19 burglary in the 5000 block of Magnolia Bluff Drive.

Calvin Arnold was arrested by Sandy Springs patrol officers and charged with a burglary and theft that occurred at 9401 Roberts Drive on June 26, according to the SSPD Facebook post. Arnold is also charged with stealing a license plate from another vehicle.

Kenneth Crane, 49, was arrested on July 1 and charged with the burglary of a home on Montevallo Drive. He is charged with stealing a lawnmower from the garage of the residence. The victim said he saw a man take his Snapper lawnmower from his garage and leave the area in a truck, according to information provided by Capt. Rose. 

Following the burglary, a patrol officer spotted Crane's truck. He was taken into custody and the lawnmower was recovered from the bed of the truck.
