Sandy Springs Man Caught with 16 Phony Credit Cards, Police Say

A Sandy Springs man was arrested with 16 fraudulent credit cards at the Woodstock , Monday.

Ben Achampong, 30, was attempting to make a purchase at BJ’s with one credit card at approximately 2:25 p.m. when police officials found the remaining cards in his possession, said Brittany Duncan, a spokeswoman for the Woodstock Police Department.

In addition to credit cards of victims from Michigan, Colorado, Texas and Georgia, Achampong also had computer equipment used to produce credit cards, Duncan said. Woodstock police investigators, Sandy Springs investigators and a federal agent found the equipment, additional fraudulent credit cards and sales receipts during a search of Achampong’s home.

The fraudulent credit cards were used in Roswell, Sandy Springs, East Point and the to purchase Nordstrom gift cards. 

Achampong is charged with financial transaction card fraud, financial transaction card forgery and 14 counts of identity theft. He is being held without bond at the .
