Woman Tries to Avoid Arrest after $35K Con on Elderly Man

The victim told police that he was befriended by the suspect at a Sandy Springs Kroger in June.

Sophie Adams wants to undo the $35,000 scam she allegedly perpetrated against an 82-year-old man and return the money to avoid police charges, a Channel 2 News report said.

It does not appear likely that the charges will be dropped.

A concerned bank officer called police when he suspected the elderly customer was a victim of fraud. The victim said he was befriended by Adams in the Kroger store at City Walk shopping center in June. He is a widower, according to the Channel 2 story, and the two went out a few times.
