  1. Healthy Savannah is working to raise awareness of the disparities in breastfeeding for Black mothers in Chatham County. The organization is working on the initiative with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, and the Georgia Department of Public Health. The organizations are asking local employers to create a formal breastfeeding support policy. (CarriageTradePR.com)
  2. Chatham County voters will see the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax issue on their November ballots. The taxes will reportedly fund the community's transportation projects. County officials warn that if the sales tax is not approved by voters, property taxes will likely have to be raised to compensate. (WJCL News Savannah)
  3. The Racial Justice Network is demanding an independent investigation into the Savannah Police Department. The proposed investigation would look into the five officer-looking shootings that have occurred this year. The organization sent a letter to Governor Kemp and the U.S. Department of Justice regarding the request. (WSAV-TV)
