Chatham County Officials Say 'If You're Going, Go Now': Hurricane Irma

"If you're going to leave you need to do so soon, because come 4 p.m. it may be too late," County Commission Chairman Al Scott said.

“If you’re going to leave you need to do so soon, because come 4 p.m. it may be too late,” County Commission Chairman Al Scott said in a press conference.

Chatham Emergency Management Director Dennis Jones said the county transported 1,875 people to Augusta and 164 people to Douglas on Saturday.

Gov. Nathan Deal issued an executive order altering the emergency declaration for Chatham County Saturday afternoon. Zone A, the area east of the Truman Parkway, is the only zone where the mandatory evacuation order remains in place.
