Flood Warning Issued For S.East Georgia Due To Tropical Storm Debby
Chatham County was one of multiple Georgia counties to be placed under a flood warning as Tropical Storm Debby pounded the U.S.
GEORGIA — A flood warning is in effect until 5:45 p.m. Monday for parts of the southeast region due to excessive rainfall as Tropical Storm Debby makes its way toward Georgia, according to the National Weather Service.
The warning was issued for Bryan, Bulloch, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Liberty, Long, McIntosh and Tattnall counties.
Weather officials said minor flooding is either ongoing or is anticipated to arrive in the area Monday afternoon. As of 2:45 p.m., the NWS said between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain had poured into the area.

An additional 3-6 inches of rain was expected, causing minor flooding, the NWS said.

Hinesville, Pooler, Bluffton, Richmond Hill, Reidsville, Glennville, Tybee Island, Claxton, Pembroke and Darien may be flooded, the NWS said.
After passing through Florida's Big Bend on Monday morning, Hurricane Debby weakened to a tropical storm. Around 2 p.m., the storm was in north Florida and was expected to cause flooding in southeast U.S. during the next several days, the National Hurricane Center forecasted.
