Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:
- Chatham County's Local Option Sales Tax negotiations have effectively stalled. The sessions are meant to decide how the 1 percent tax levy will be distributed for the next 10 years. The 8 municipalities within the county want the county to get 14 percent of the expected $1 billion in funding while the county wants 50 percent. (Savannah Morning News)
- The Chatham County Health Department is hosting a series of meningitis vaccination clinics this month. The clinics are meant for local teens to meet the required vaccinations for the upcoming school year. The clinics will be at the Eisenhower Clinic on Eisenhower Drive. - Savannah's Head Start program is searching for teachers and students to fill classrooms. The program is entering its 58th year of operating in Savanah. The program is looking to fill about 40 different openings in Chatham County and Effingham County. The more staff they have, the more children they can serve.
