Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:
- An overnight shooting has resulted in three individuals being wounded. The shooting occurred in the 200 block of W. St. Julian Street around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday. One victim is in serious condition. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Savannah Police Department immediately. (WJCL News Savannah)
- United Way of the Coastal Empire distributed books to over 700 children throughout the Savannah area on Friday. The distribution was made possible through a partnership with the Summer Food Programs. The main focus of the United Way's Read United initiative is to close the reading gap in low-income households. - Healthy Savannah and the YMCA of Coastal Georgia will be offering Community Health Advocate Online Training on Thursday, Jul. 7 at 6:30 p.m. The training will educate the community on the COVID-19 virus, the vaccine, and the health concerns in Chatham County's communities of color. The training is funded through a supplemental grant by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. (CarriageTradePR.com)
