Here are the top three stories in Savannah today:
- The Savannah Film Alliance is restarting its in-person meetings. It has been almost three years since the organization has had in-person meetings. The organization is a network of local residents and businesses supporting film projects in the Coastal Empire. Everyone is invited to attend its Thursday meeting at Savannah Tech from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (WTOC)
- Chatham County is experiencing a rise in opioid overdoses. Last month's overdose rate doubled compared to the same time in 2021. The increase is reportedly due to the ongoing fentanyl crisis. First responders are carrying Narcan - but they can only do so much. (WTOC)
- The Savannah Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred on W. Julian Street. The incident that occurred in the 200 block on Jun. 26 has left three victims with gunshot wounds. One suspect was caught in Effingham County and has been charged with multiple traffic charges.
