Shia LaBeouf Arrested In Georgia For Public Drunkenness

SAVANNAH, GA — Actor Shia LaBeouf was arrested in Savannah early Saturday morning for public drunkenness, online jail records show.

LaBeouf, 31, was booked into the Chatham county jail around 4 a.m. for public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and obstruction. His bond was set at $7,000.

According to a press release issued by Savannah police, LaBeouf walked up to an officer and a bystander and asked for a cigarette. Police say when he wasn't given a cigarette he became disorderly and used profanities and vulgarities in front of the people present at the scene.

He was then told to leave the area but he became aggressive towards the officer, police said. When the officer tried to arrest him, LaBeouf ran into a hotel lobby and was arrested there, police said.

This is not the first time LaBeouf has had trouble with the law. He was arrested for public intoxication in Austin, Texas in 2015. At the time of that arrest, an affidavit showed that LaBeouf's speech was slurred and his eyes were glassy and dilated.

The affidavit said he became “increasingly confrontational, aggravated, profane and verbally aggressive,” and called the officer who was questioning him a “silly man” three times.

More recently, LaBeouf was arrested in January for allegedly shoving a man at an anti-Donald Trump art installation in Queens. The charges were later dropped for lack of evidence.
