2 Men Injured In I-285 Crash: Cobb Police

Two men, one from Lithonia and one from Lawrenceville, were injured in a crash on Interstate 285 at Paces Ferry Road early Sunday morning.

COBB COUNTY, GA — Two men in their 20s were injured in a car crash in Cobb County early Sunday morning, one of which was seriously injured.

Cobb County Police Department's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) unit officers are investigating the crash, which occurred just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning on southbound Interstate 285 at Paces Ferry Road.

Investigators said 21-year-old Keymon Howard was driving a black 2004 Honda Accord southbound on I-285 when he suddenly swerved to avoid another vehicle entering his lane. The Honda drove off the road, overturned and crashed into a light pole between the lanes and entrance ramp at Paces Ferry Road.

Howard, of Lawrenceville, was trapped in the vehicle when officers arrived, but was not seriously injured. The passenger, 22-year-old Taevon Dunston of Lithonia, was ejected from the car and was seriously injured.

Both men were taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment. The STEP unit is still investigating the crash, and anyone with information is asked to call 770-499-3987.
