Construction To Begin Soon On Affordable Elderly Living Community In Smyrna

Two years after Smyrna City Council approved a rezoning request for an affordable elderly living community, construction is one step closer.

SMYRNA, GA — Smyrna City Council members approved a commercial building permit for an affordable elderly living community last week, paving the way for construction to start more than two years after the rezoning request was approved.

Council members approved the permit last Monday for Wilshire Apartments to be built on Smyrna Hill Road. Rezoning for the property from light industrial to residential high-rise was approved in October 2019, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The $14 million, 62-unit living community will be built on 2.6 acres and stand at four stories tall, a firm partner told the AJC.
