Big Bear Sports, Smyrna's First Indoor Baseball And Softball Facility, Is Now Open

Big Bear Sports, the first and only indoor baseball/softball facility in Smyrna, opened in October.

SMYRNA, GA — Smyrna's first and only indoor baseball/softball facility, Big Bear Sports, opened its doors in October, the Marietta Daily Journal reported.

The climate-controlled, 5,600 square foot facility offers five cages (two pitching and three hitting), and two tee/soft toss areas for baseball and softball teams of any skill level, according to a news release. The pitching machines have a speed capability of 90 mph for baseball and 75 mph for softball.

Previously located off South Cobb Drive in Smyrna, Big Bear Sports is now co-located with Big Bear Construction on North Cooper Lake Road.

It's served as the preferred indoor training facility for the Campbell High School baseball and softball teams, the release said, as well as the travel ball programs for the Southwest Sox, Campbell Metro Softball, Smyrna Slammers and Rhyne Park Renegades.
