- Yesterday, Mayor Derek Norton issued a proclamation recognizing September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, in partnership with the Mighty Millie Foundation. Norton made this designation with the goal of increasing awareness of childhood cancer and supporting Smyrna families affected by the disease. The Mighty Millie Foundation was started to fund research in honor of Millie Mracek, who passed away in 2021 at 3.5 years old after a battle with cancer. (City of Smyrna, GA Government via Facebook)
- Down the road in Marietta, the Georgia Country Music Fest will take place this Labor Day weekend at Jim R. Miller Park. The event will feature over 30 of the country's hottest musical artists, including Turnpike Troubadours, Cody Jinks, Koe Wetzel, Jamey Johnson, and more. Tickets are still available online, and the schedule can be found here. (Georgia Country Music Fest)
- Cobb County Firefighters have announced several new dates for upcoming Fall CPR classes at the Cobb County Safety Village.
